Via this website you have the possibility to request a quote according to your wishes and preconditions. Afterwards, you select the components of your travel insurance and may apply in only 4 easy steps online. First possible insurance start is as early as the following day. Insurance application can thus be processed on short notice prior to departure. Yet, please take time to read all information carefully to be well prepared.
When applying for insurance, you must specify the destination of your trip. Will you be traveling only in Europe, or also to the U.S. or Canada? Coverage varies depending on the policy. After all the information has been entered, the quote calculator will display the appropriate travel insurance policy. This policy will then provide coverage based on the selected destination (e.g., Europe, worldwide excluding the U.S. and Canada, or worldwide).
The full amount for travel insurance can be paid by credit card or you can pay by direct debit from a EU account (either monthly or the total amount). In the latter case, CareMed will automatically debit the premium accordingly.

Once you have purchased the insurance and made your payment, we will email the proof of insurance. You will usually receive the email shortly thereafter. Please check your spam folder as well. If it takes longer than expected, feel free to contact us and we will look into it.
Insurance coverage has to be taken out for the entire stay abroad. Traveling as a backpacker, volunteer or work & traveler, your end of travel has usually not yet been fixed. In this case you enroll for the maximum travel period. The maximum insurance period is either 12 or 24 months depending on insurance type. Please keep in mind that renewal of insurance coverage cannot be guaranteed. If you return home early, we will refund you for the remaining period as soon as we receive your request.
With CareMed insurance you are flexible: There will be a full refund if cancellation is done prior to insurance start date. You simply email CareMed about your request and attach your cancellation confirmation (e.g. from the airline, travel agent, program or your visa denial).
Yes, in this case, you will be reimbursed for the remaining period after you notify CareMed. To do this, simply email immediately upon your return home, as the reimbursement cannot be made retroactively.
If your travel plans change unexpectedly during your stay abroad, you have the option to request a renewal of your insurance coverage under the current insurance terms and conditions. Please send us an email as soon as possible with your new return date. We will then review the best option for your situation. Please note, however, that pre-existing conditions are excluded in this case. Send us an e-mail and we are happy to assist you.
